Laser tattoo removal has come a long way since the 1960's when it was first introduced! Using advanced ND: YAG technology we can remove ink and pigment from within the skin with minimal side effects.
How does it work?
Laser tattoo removal is very science-y, but I'll simplify it a little. The laser beam targets the ink/ pigment in the skin. The ink is heated up so much so quickly that a photomechanical effect takes place, in which the ink particles are broken up into smaller fragments. These smaller fragments are then removed by the body via the lymphatic system.
The laser can only affect the top layer of ink, which is why multiple sessions are required for optimum results. (Once the top layer of ink is removed, the second session works on the layer below that and so on until it's gone!)
